Get in kids, we are putting on a show! Mean Girls, the brutally hilarious musical from book writer Tina Fey (30 Rock), lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) and composer Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). This queen bee took Broadway by storm and has joined the musical in-crowd. Adapted from Fey’s hit 2004 film, Mean Girls was nominated for a staggering 12 Tony Awards.
Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung.
Get ready for a fully staged production complete with costumes, props, lights and sets!

ROLES/CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS
Regina George
Vocal range top: Eb5
Vocal range bottom: Ab3
Regina is the undisputed Queen Bee of North Shore High School, and she knows it. She’s also the leader of a clique called The Plastics. Regina is confident, clever, and completely unbothered by anyone else’s opinion. She’s the girl everyone wants to be… or at least sit with. When she shines her light on you, you feel like the most important person in the world. When that light goes cold, you want to die. She is regal, still, and “hot”, but at her most vulnerable moments, she is just a kid in over her head. While Regina purposefully manipulates everyone around her (including her own mom), at her heart, she’s trying to fit in, just like everyone else.
Gretchen Wieners
Vocal range top: E5
Vocal range bottom: G2
One of the Plastics, Gretchen is Regina’s stressed-out second-in-command. As much as Regina appears not to care what people think, Gretchen cares very much, and she’s especially paranoid when it comes to Regina. Desperate to please Regina and to maintain her position in the Plastics, Gretchen is a nervous wreck. She is a “banker” – meaning she befriends people to “bank” their secrets so she can trade them later for her own benefit. She reports hot gossip back to Regina. Her insecurity, anxiety and fragility at times is heartbreaking. She is completely controlled by Regina and insecure about losing her position as Regina’s #2. Her current goal is to make “fetch” happen.
Karen Smith
Vocal range top: D#5
Vocal range bottom: G2
The third member of the Plastics. Although her intellect and personality never had a chance to develop, Karen is essentially kind, fun, adorable, relaxed, and a generous laugher. And arguably, the nicest member of the Plastics. While Karen’s lack of intelligence is a running joke throughout the show, she sees the other girls more clearly than most people and is the most easygoing of the three. Talents include being able to have entire conversations via emoji. Karen always supports her friends, but she doesn’t appreciate when they put her down – or control what she wears.
Damian Hubbard
Vocal range top: G5
Vocal range bottom: Bb3
The outgoing co-chair of the Student Activities Committee, and a fiercely loyal friend to Janis, Damian is unapologetically himself. Damian and Janis have the close rapport of a comedy team. Damian is smart, witty, and confident and occasionally serves as the show’s narrator. He boldly and hilariously confronts issues such as bullying, self-identity, and how to stop yourself from sending too many texts to your crush. He thinks Regina is not to be trusted, however he does admire her power and poise.
Janis Sarkisian
Vocal range top: D5
Vocal range bottom: A3
With her best friend Damian, Janis narrates throughout the show. An artistic rebel, Janis is not afraid to be weird, march to the beat of her own drum, or make others uncomfortable. She paints herself as an objective observer, but, like so many of us, she longs to avenge the devastating events of eighth grade. After a falling-out with Regina in middle school, she became a bit of a social outcast and still holds a grudge against Regina. She would rather be herself than fit in with any crowd, especially if it means standing up for her beliefs.
Cady Heron
Vocal range top: E5
Vocal range bottom: G2
A new junior at North Shore High School, Cady grew up in rural Africa and was homeschooled by her wildlife biologist parents. She is unprepared for American high school, but she is warm, bright, and strong – and great at math. Cady arrives at North Shore High a clueless transfer student, but is quickly wrapped up in brutal social politics. Though at her core Cady is levelheaded, self-assured, and kind, when she goes undercover with the Plastics, she becomes unrecognizable. She learns the hard way that being popular isn’t always pretty. Cady is the emotional heart of our story.
Aaron Samuels
Vocal range top: E5
Vocal range bottom: B3
A cute, nice and friendly senior with a good moral compass and a backbone, but is not good at math. Aaron has ho has no idea that he’s the high school heartthrob. Although he doesn’t enjoy the drama of high school social politics, he’s not immune to all the female attention he gets. Aaron gets used as a pawn between Cady and Regina, though he genuinely likes Cady. Broadway and pop tenor.
Shane Oman
A couple of spoken lines but much discussed in the show’s plot.
Kevin G
Kevin is the extremely driven captain of the North Shore Mathletes. He is a confident student and North Shore High’s more enthusiastic rapper. He’s excited about competing with the team, and he’s proud of their accomplishments. Students might make fun of his crew, but Kevin G knows he’s got mad schquillz.
Martin
Kevin G’s second in command.
Ms. Norbury
Vocal range top: Eb5
Vocal range bottom: G3
Ms. Norbury is Cady’s homeroom and calculus teacher, and she oversees the Mathletes. Though she is a bit world-weary, jaded and more than a little sarcastic, Ms. Norbury sees the real Cady and encourages her to be true to herself, and to be her smartest self.
Mr. & Mrs. Heron
Cady’s parents. Mrs. Heron is Cady’s intellectual mom who can’t understand why her daughter is devolving before her eyes.
Mrs. George
Mrs. George is Regina’s “cool mom.” She’s desperate to look young and feel like one of the teens. She’s also desperate for Regina not to repeat her mistakes.
Mr. Duvall
The principal of North Shore High. Mr. Duvall may have once taught computers at Joliet penitentiary, but nothing prepared him for the harsh realities of out-of-control junior girls. Like Ms. Norbury, he’s now seen it all, although he’s slightly more formal and sincere than Ms. Norbury’s sarcasm. Funny and a strong singer.
